Why I built Parascope
I'm Greg Urbahn. For my whole technology career, one of the most consistent, frustrating problems I ran into was getting accurate information about what exists. Sounds simple. But building a picture of the devices, systems, services, and software across a business is hard. Documentation is out of date. Going direct means logging into a dozen tools, exporting data, and stitching it together in a spreadsheet. A simple question can turn into a multi-hour ordeal.
After twenty years of that, I built the tool I wanted for myself. That's Parascope. It reads from the systems you run, aligns what it finds into one data model, and gets you real answers, real quick. A question like “What changed on this host before the incident?” should have an answer you can look up.
Features start with problems I've hit myself. I build them until they answer the question that sent me looking in the first place. If there's something you need that Parascope doesn't do yet, tell me what you're trying to find out.

How I've built it
Observe, don't prescribe
Parascope reads from your systems and reports what it finds. It does not change their configuration. You decide what to do with the information.
Keep a history
An inventory tells you what is there now. When you are investigating an incident, you also need to know what changed. Parascope records changes as it observes them, with point-in-time queries covering the last 365 days.
Read through existing APIs
Parascope uses read-only access through the APIs your systems already provide. There are no agents to install on the systems being observed.
Work with your stack
The inventory should be useful in the tools where you already work. Parascope makes its data available through an API so you can bring infrastructure context into your existing workflows.
